Few freeze for Iranian freeze protest at Disney resort

A flash mob "freeze" protest about the Iranian election scheduled to take place at the Disney Resorts entrance plaza had few people show up to freeze.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Dear CIA

The attempt to recreate your 1953 overthrow of the Democratically-elected government of Iran has cratered. Badly.

Please stop trying to raise on a busted flush; you are embarrassing the nation.

Dozens Fall Ill on Cruise Ship

About 60 crew members on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship have been diagnosed with swine flu and confined to their cabins while the ship is in a French port, a French official said Friday. The cruise line says the sickness isn't swine flu.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I love the fight between the people who own the ship (and should know) and the outsiders intent on pushing this as a swine flu outbreak.

Eyeing Iran, US seeks to rush production of 30,000 bomb

The US Defense Department is seeking to accelerate by three years the development of a 30,000-pound bomb, a move that underscores growing unease over nuclear threats from Iran and North Korea, the Bloomberg news network reported on Friday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, in theory, each B-2 (pictured in the article) can only carry a single bomb. Hardly an efficient use of such an expensive aircraft.

Or is this a cover-story for the US to use 30Kton yield nuclear weapons against Iran and declare the resulting radioactivity "proof" that the bombed targets were nuclear sites?

Elaine Morgan says we evolved from aquatic apes

Elaine Morgan is a tenacious proponent of the aquatic ape hypothesis: the idea that humans evolved from primate ancestors who dwelt in watery habitats. Hear her spirited defense of the idea -- and her theory on why mainstream science doesn't take it seriously.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Somewhere along the path from ape to human we lost our hair (slows us down in the water), we added buoyant adipose tissue (which helps us float), and a nose which unique among large apes keeps water from flooding our sinus cavities when briefly submerged.

New York Fails to Hit 90 Degrees for June, July for Second Time

The high in New York City today is forecast to hover around 80 degrees, making it only the second time on record that June and July temperatures failed to reach 90, the National Weather Service said.

Pictured: U.S. missile defence test hailed a success as North Korea tensions rise

The latest US missile defence test, conducted last night in Hawaii waters, was deemed a success as tensions continue with North Korea over that country's missile programme.

There had been speculation North Korea would launch a missile toward Hawaii - about 4,500 miles away - to coincide with the July 4 Independence Day holiday in the US.

Webmaster's Commentary:

A short memo to whoever actually wrote this piece of tripe.(If you have any kind of a science advisor, it might be useful actually talking to them before writing an article like this!)

As reported in:

http://astroprof.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!9914389DC1F1ADC6!606.entry

"Accuracy of the Taepodong-2 rocket is believed to be poor, particularly as the target range increases. At extreme range, it would probably be lucky if the rocket landed close enough to its designated target to do any damage at all, even with a nuclear warhead."

The Taepo-Dong missile is notoriously difficult for the North Korean Military to control, in terms of staging and targeting. In other words, in its current configuration, it probably couldn't hit the broad side of a barn.

And unfortunately, with regard to North Korea's missile and nuclear programs, the US has given a magnificent object lesson to that country and the world about what happens to a nation which does not have a working nuclear deterrent, as was the case of the invasion and occupation of Iraq.

The UN also noticed that the number of civilians killed in conflict in Afghanistan has jumped 24 percent so far this year.

New York Judge Dismisses Claim Negligent Construction Contributed To WTC 7 Collapse

A New York judge presiding over a multi-million dollar insurance case has dismissed the claim that negligent design or construction of WTC Building 7 contributed to its collapse, and in doing so has destroyed a key justification cited by debunkers in claiming that WTC 7 was not deliberately imploded.

FATAH: DON’T ALLOW DAYTON TO CONTROL YOUR CONVENTION

I think it would be safe to say that virtually all Palestinians, including Hamas, would like to see Fatah’s upcoming Congress succeed in rehabilitating the movement, mainly by extricating it from the quagmire of corruption, treachery and “security coordination” with Israel, the Nazi-like occupier of our homeland and tormentor of our people.

Fatah is a large movement and its role in leading Palestinian struggle against Zionist colonialism can’t be denied. But it is also true that for many years Fatah has been metamorphosed into a “contra force” working, knowingly or unknowingly, against the national interests of the Palestinian people.

FLASHBACK - DoD leaders seek clues to Army suicide spike

“And so we’re trying to understand, is this cumulative?” Cartwright said. “Is there something that is a trigger event here? We’re working with several agencies, on the national health side, to try to understand this.”

Webmaster's Commentary:

I'll tell you what the problem is. Despite all the propaganda and censorship to isolate our kids in uniform from real news, those young men and women in uniform are smart enough to figure out that THEY ARE THE BAD GUYS IN THIS WAR.

Those soldiers are not defending America from a threat. It is America that is and has repeatedly invaded other nations to steal their resources. and this time, the kids in uniform know it.

This is now personal for me. We just received word that a family member has committed suicide following a tour in Iraq. And as much as I search the web, every article I see about the epidemic of military suicides only speaks of those that happen on the front lines. Nobody seems to want to look at what is happening to these people after they come back home, unless they start shooting at their neighbors.

What is the government doing to our young people?

And why will nobody try to stop it?

Bombshell: Bin Laden worked for US till 9/11

Former FBI translator Sibel Edmonds dropped a bombshell on the Mike Malloy radio show, guest-hosted by Brad Friedman (audio, partial transcript).

In the interview, Sibel says that the US maintained 'intimate relations' with Bin Laden, and the Taliban, "all the way until that day of September 11."

These 'intimate relations' included using Bin Laden for 'operations' in Central Asia, including Xinjiang, China. These 'operations' involved using al Qaeda and the Taliban in the same manner "as we did during the Afghan and Soviet conflict," that is, fighting 'enemies' via proxies.

Israel admits white phosphorus use

The Israeli government report follows charges from the UN and human rights groups that Israeli forces committed war crimes and violated international law during the operation.

UN officials have also said that they have evidence that white phosphorus was used in an attack on the UN relief agency's main building in Gaza that left three people injured.

But the government defended its military campaign as a "necessary and proportionate" response to Hamas rocket fire at Israel.

Webmaster's Commentary:

".....Necessary and proportionate", my astrolabe!

They were using this stuff in an attack against the UN relief agency's main building in Gaza.

And soldiers who participated in "Breaking the Silence" have come forward to say that they were told to shoot everyone...women, kids, the elderly, the medically infirm, it didn't matter who they killed; just as long as it was a Palestinian.

Obama’s Secret Police

This incident throws the spotlight on a shadowy national network of domestic spies – in effect, Obama’s political police, who infiltrate dissident groups of whatever sort and send the information back to what are called "fusion centers," part of the new "integrated" approach to fighting our eternal "war on terrorism" — a war that isn’t only being fought on the battlefields of Afghanistan.

The antiwar movement is not a collection of "terrorist cells," and yet that is precisely how the US government is dealing with them: infiltrating and spying on our organizations, planning "raids" on activist gathering places and homes, and no doubt engaging in further disruptive activities yet to be revealed. How is this possible in the land of the free?

U.S. fall deadline for Iran not coincidental

·Gates has given Iran a deadline until fall to respond positively to request to enter talks.
·Analysts say the deadline will tie in with opening of UN General Assembly in September.
·Barak said Israel will rely on its own force to defend itself during his meeting with Gates.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Translation: Gates was given his marching orders on Iran during his visit.

And for Ehud Barak to make the statement that " Israel will rely on its own force to defend itself during his meeting with Gates." is utterly laughable.

They may well be able to start this war, but most probably cannot finish it on their own without US help and military expertise. The Israeli and US military is already thoroughly integrated, as joint military exercises earlier this month in the US indicated.

The US and Israel both know that they are not going to get more sanctions from the UN, because Russia and China will veto any such measures at the Security Council level.

Look for the UN to again become "irrelevant", as it did right before the US invaded Iraq.

US Senate votes to penalize Iran gasoline suppliers

To pressure Tehran to give up its nuclear program, the U.S. Senate has voted to ban companies that sell gasoline and other refined oil products to Iran from also receiving Energy Department contracts to deliver crude to the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve.

Iran holds some of the world's biggest oil reserves, but it imports 40 percent of its gasoline to meet growing demand. U.S. lawmakers hope that by cutting off the country's motor fuel, Tehran will abandon its nuclear program, which they fear could be used to make weapons.

Webmaster's Commentary:

For at least the 19 millionth time: Iran is building a power station, which it is perfectly within its right to do, as a signatory to the NPT.

The IAEA has consistently reported no loss of nuclear material at the site, and also no enrichment of uranium beyond that which is necessary to build a power plant.

Ah, but these are the facts of the case. And we know that the US doesn't like facts when they don't gibe with certain geopolitical agendas (i.e., the "neutralizing of Iran to make Israel happy, as was the case with the the invasion and occupation of Iraq)

And as to this ban on companies selling gas to Iran?!?

Russia will simply step up to the plate and provide the gas for Iran.

As one of the major players in the gas, oil, and energy sectors, Russia will be delighted to help Iran out on this.

More sound and fury from the US Senate, signifying.....nothing.

Nope. Police officers will become loathed, feared, despised and remembered for their “official” duties,” writes Evensen.

Banks Paid $32.6 Billion in Bonuses Amid U.S. Bailout

Citigroup Inc., Merrill Lynch & Co. and seven other U.S. banks paid $32.6 billion in bonuses in 2008 while receiving $175 billion in taxpayer funds, according to a report by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo.

Obama says GDP to show contraction, job losses

U.S. President Barack Obama braced the country for more bad economic news on Thursday, saying second-quarter GDP figures would show the economy contracted and job losses were still a "huge" problem.

Webmaster's Commentary:

I suppose we are supposed to congratulate the man for his magnificent grasp of the obvious.

And as to that statement that the banking system has "settled down", he should be attempting to negotiate with his credit card companies, which have jacked up the interest rates on his account for no damned good reason, when he has been a consistent customer who always paid timely, and way more than the minimum due.

That's one of the ugly, nasty economic shocks many Americans are experiencing right now.

Unemployed Over 26 Weeks

The DOL report this morning showed seasonally adjusted insured unemployment at 6.2 million, down from a peak of about 6.9 million. 'It burned straight away': Mother reveals how yobs threw bleach over her after she asked them to be quiet during Harry Potter film

A mother who was badly burned in a bleach attack after asking a group of youths to be quiet during the new Harry Potter film has today spoken for the first time about her ordeal.

The woman, who does not want to be named, was followed by yobs after the screening which she saw with her husband and two children.

The family were in a nearby restaurant when the bleach was thrown over her head by two youths who followed them inside.

The woman needed hospital treatment for burns and may have permanent damage to her eyes.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The people of a nation will be no more moral than their leaders.

Phony Tony Blair lied to help George Bush start a war and threw bombs all over the Iraqis. The yobs are just showing their respect for their leaders.

McChrystal Preparing New Afghan War Strategy, Likely To Include More US Troops

The U.S. general in charge of turning around the war in Afghanistan is likely to recommend significant changes to U.S. and NATO operations, military officials and others familiar with his forthcoming report said. Those changes could include additional U.S. troops despite political headwind against further expansion of the war.

As Gen. Stanley McChrystal readies his assessment of the war, due next month, numerous U.S. officials and outsiders apprised of his thinking suggest McChrystal will request that more American troops, probably including Marines, be added next year.

Webmaster's Commentary:

One has to wonder just precisely where, with US military commitments around the world stressed to the breaking point, Mc Chrystal believes he will find the added troop strength to fulfill his requirements here.

But we are seeing the beginnings of a massive escalation of the military campaign in Afghanistan.

There will be a point where the muscularity of this administration's foreign policy will force the reinstitution of some kind of a draft.

Dan Rather slams the corporate media

Dan Rather slammed the corporate media in a talk Tuesday for the erosion of quality journalism, and the corporatization, politicization, and “trivialization” of news.

He also said:

A democracy and free people cannot thrive without a fiercely independent press.

This is true, of course.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This from the guy who rocketed to media stardom by reporting that John F. Kennedy's head "rocketed forward" from the fatal head shot in Dallas.

When Jim Garrison's trial of Clay Shaw forced the Zapruder film into the public, it was revealed that Rather had "mis-stated" the facts. Kennedy's head is shoved backward by the force of the gunshot.

Study: Bank Bonuses Far Exceeded Profits

Over 1,000 Afghan civilians killed this year: UN

Afghanistan's intensifying conflict killed more than 1,000 civilians in the first six months of 2009, an increase of nearly a quarter over the same period last year, the United Nations said Friday.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The boost in troop numbers has very little to do with the spiraling death count.

As the use of drones continues in Afghanistan, this number of killed and injured could easily quadruple before the end of the year.

And just to remind you why we are in Afghanistan, and our young men and women are fighting and dieing; the installation of pipelines (Bush and his minions thought that an invasion and occupation would be "cheaper" than what the Taliban were asking for this in August of 2001), and the protection of the drug trade, from which so many profit so handsomely.

9/11’s smoking gun still smoking!

The fact is that Tower Seven vanished in its footprint in six seconds at 5:28 PM on that day, after its owner Larry Silverstein announced at about 3 PM “that there had been so much bloodshed and pain, that ‘they’ had decided to ‘pull it,’” which is the classic term for an internal demolition. So it really wasn’t the first steel Tower in history to fall by fire. Whatever fires there were, were put out and did not bring Tower 7 down, even if it had burned all day, which it didn’t. What brought it down was the order to “pull it.” The hitch is you can’t set up an internal demolition for a 47-story, steel-frame building in two and a half hours, nor two and a half days or weeks.

“Responsibility to Protect” is Warmed-Over Imperialism

The United Nations last week began what will become a protracted debate over the doctrine “Responsibility to Protect,” or R2P. The doctrine is a warmed-over version of so-called “humanitarian” military intervention – another excuse for big powers to make war on weaker nations. Its primary champion in the Obama administration is UN ambassador Susan Rice, who would use the “Responsibility to Protect” doctrine to justify U.S. military action in Somalia, Sudan and elsewhere. One important opponent of R2P is Rev. Miguel D’Escoto, of Nicaragua, president of the UN General Assembly.

Hillary Out to Strong-Arm Swiss

First we attacked Afghanistan. Then we attacked Iraq. Now the U.S. has it sights set on Switzerland.

Peaceful, neutral Switzerland? That's right. What's the crime? It's not sponsoring terrorism or harboring weapons of mass destruction. No, in the eyes of the U.S. government, Switzerland has done far worse: it's kept money out of the hands of the Internal Revenue Service, money to which the IRS may not even be entitled under any law anywhere.

The U.S. and Switzerland are headed for a diplomatic showdown as the IRS demands that Swiss bank UBS turn over the names of 52,000 U.S. clients in the mere hope of exposing them as tax evaders, prosecuting them and taking their cash.

List of Israeli Massacres

Although the Image that Israel distributes about herself is that of an oppressed nation, it is with heavy hearts that we present these crimes that stand for themselves for the brutality of the Israeli Army and the heartlessness of its soldiers who seem to have a thirst for blood.
They are reported in the news for a week or two and then swept into the sea of oblivion. Those who attempt to revive the true history of Israel are charged of being anti-Semitic. So with the hope to keep those memories in mind we present this shameful history of Israel that seems to have found that the role of Goliath is more interesting than that of David.
