Wham Bam Bananastan

Mr. Obama is allowing the warmongery to steer him into a course of action that will make America the latest superpower to impale itself on the far side of the Khyber Pass. In 1978 Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser, manipulated events in a way that turned Afghanistan into the Soviet Union’s Vietnam. "The West should not repeat the mistakes that the Soviets made," he now says. "We are now running the risk of unintentionally duplicating what the Soviets were doing."

Sun Tzu noted, "No nation ever profited from a long war." A headline banner at the Department of Defense Web site reads, "The United States Is a Nation Engaged in What Will Be a Long War."

Gaza children shatter world record

(I'll bet they shattered the record in number of homemade kites, too! These kids have close to nothing...it's not like Israel allows the importation of kites or food and medicine or anything silly like that).

It was an unlikely place to shatter a world record, but the beaches of the Gaza Strip were the venue for thousands of Palestinian children who flew the largest number of kites simultaneously from the same place.

The record that once stood at 713 has been broken, thanks to the efforts of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and about 6,000 kite-flying children.

The United States does not have the best health care system in the world

The United States is the only wealthy, industrialized, developed country in the world that does not offer health care to all of its citizens.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Although the current Obama health care bill moving through congress is not the answer, there has to be a far better answer than what we have now in terms of providing good health care to US citizens.

Diverting the billions spent on these wars without end, and using them to fund a workable, universal health care would be a real start.

And congressional representatives do have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to their own health care packages, which - even if they only serve one term - are theirs for life.

Russia increases troops' alert in S Ossetia after Georgia's provocations

Russia has deployed its troops and border guards in Georgia's breakaway region of South Ossetia on increased alert following provocations from Georgia, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported on Tuesday.

"The situation is really worrisome, provocations from the Georgian side on the eve of the anniversary of the August events last year are continuing," Andrei Nesterenko, spokesman for Russian Foreign Ministry, said in a statement posted on the ministry's website.

Webmaster's Commentary:

If the Georgia/Russia conflict goes "hot", coupled with more destabilization in Pakistan (which would impede Russia getting supplies to Iran by ground), look for a potential US/Israeli attack against Iran to begin shortly after those two things happen.

$100 Million Payday Poses Problem for Pay Czar

In a few weeks, the Treasury Department's czar of executive pay will have to answer this $100 million question: Should Andrew J. Hall get his bonus?

Mr. Hall, the 58-year-old head of Phibro, a small commodities trading firm in Westport, Conn., is due for a nine-figure payday, his cut of profits from a characteristically aggressive year of bets in the oil market.

There is little doubt that Mr. Hall is owed the money under his contract. The problem is that his contract is with Citigroup, which was saved with roughly $45 billion in taxpayer aid.

Families continue to be evicted from Jerusalem for being not Jewish. In this case two Palestinian refugee families (nearly 50 individuals) who lived in these homes since they were evicted from their homes in West Jerusalem in 1948 are made refugees again. No tax hike for middle class: White House

U.S. President Barack Obama will keep his promise not to raise taxes on people making less than $250,000 a year, the White House said Monday, rebutting comments by administration officials that indicated otherwise.

"The president has made a very clear commitment to not raise taxes on middle-class families," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told a regular briefing.

"Let me be precise. The president's clear commitment is not to raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 a year," he said.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The Dick Act of 1902 cannot be repealed; to do so would violate bills of attainder and ex post facto laws which would be yet another gross violation of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Abbas Launches First Fatah Conference In Decades

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas launched his Fatah movement's first conference in two decades Tuesday with a call for his people to limit their resistance to Israel to marches and protests and not to abandon peace talks despite years of setbacks.

Yet the three-day gathering opened in disarray, with some 400 Gaza delegates unable to attend because of an increasingly acrimonious standoff between Abbas and Hamas. The Islamic militants, who wrested control of Gaza from Abbas in 2007, prevented Fatah delegates from leaving the territory for the conference.

Webmaster's Commentary:

Memo to Hamas and Fatah; unless and until you can find reconciliation and a unified voice with which to speak to the Israeli government, there will be no Palestinian state, or - if it does get founded - it will not be much larger than a postage stamp!

Bush urges unified warning against North Korea

Former US president George W. Bush said Saturday the five nations involved in nuclear disarmament talks with North Korea must send a unified warning against Pyongyang's continued defiance.

Webmaster's Commentary:

This statement reminds me of a classic line from one of the comedian Ron White's standup routines: "you can't fix stupid"

First, North Korea is a client state of China, and China is its largest trading partner. For anything here to work in terms of negotiations must have China behind it one thousand percent.

And it appears that Bush is already suffering from acute, selective amnesia regarding the actions of his administration.

Bush gave North Korea and the world a masterful lesson about what happens to countries without a solid nuclear deterrent through his invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq.

Bill Clinton in N.Korea mission to free reporters

Former US president Bill Clinton arrived in North Korea on Tuesday on a surprise mission to free two jailed US journalists, in what was the highest-profile visit by an American to Pyongyang for nearly a decade.

“Our interest is the successful completion of this issue and to confirm the safe return of the two journalists,” a US official travelling separately with the ex-president’s wife, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, told reporters.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The story about the journalists is just a smokescreen; convenient, but nothing more than a cover story.

Clinton has been dispatched to Pyongyang to see what it will take to get North Korea back to the bargaining table. He would not be meeting with Kim Jong-Il, were this not the case.

Of course, this time, the US had better honor the commitments it makes (unlike what happened during the Bush administration)

New Evidence: That The ‘Swine Flu’ Pandemic Is Man-Made

To realize such windfall profits on an engineered, global flu pandemic, detailed covert planning must take place of course.

Patents protecting the proprietary flu vaccine must be applied for and secured before the pandemic virus is released in order to minimize the competition and maximize the profit potentials. In a biological attack of this nature, timing is extremely critical.

Indeed, the evidence is clear Novartis applied for just such a patent on Nov. 4, 2005, and the U.S. Patent Office accepted this application and granted US 20090047353A1 for a “Split Influenza Vaccine with Adjuvants” on February 19, 2009.

Israeli police evicted two Palestinian families in east Jerusalem on Sunday, then allowed Jewish settlers to move into their homes, drawing criticism from Palestinians, the United Nations and the State Department.

FEMA Is dysfunctional, so we're making it larger?

Don't look now, but US lawmakers -- Republican and Democrat alike -- in Congress are grabbing more power for themselves while at the same time creating a whole new federal bureaucracy. Americans will rue the day it was created when they see their communities under the control of federal bureaucrats and agencies.

Why Bernanke Is in Panic Mode

Bernanke says that Congress can have access to an audit at any time. Sure it can – an audit vetted and sanitized by the FED, where no one knows which banks got what bailout money. This is an audit in the way a CIA audit is an audit. The main differences are these: (1) the CIA legally operates only outside the borders of the United States; (2) the CIA can assassinate any uncooperative Congressman who insists on a full audit. The FED does not have the second power, but it is not limited by the first restriction.

What has Bernanke panicked is this: the Federal Reserve has bailed out the biggest banks and has let almost 100 little ones die. This is crony capitalism at its most notorious.

A Great Moment in Our History

When we were colonists, and the King and the Parliament needed money from us, and they always seemed to need money, they devised ingenious ways to tax us. One of them was called the Stamp Act. The Parliament decreed that every piece of paper that the Colonists had in their homes; every book, every document, every deed, every lease, every pamphlet, every poster to be nailed to a tree had to have the King’s stamp on it. You think going to a Post Office is bad? You had to go to a British Government office and buy a stamp with the King’s picture.

Pre-atttack Iraq cyberwarfare tactics to be used on Iran?

Cyberwarfare Is Full Of Unknowns For U.S. Military
By John Markoff , Thom Shanker , New York Times News Service Published on 8/2/2009
...the American military and its partners in the intelligence agencies did receive approval to degrade Iraq's military and government communications systems in the early hours of the war in 2003. And that attack did produce collateral damage. Besides blowing up cell-phone towers and communications grids, the offensive included electronic jamming and digital attacks against Iraq's telephone networks. American officials also contacted international communications companies that provided satellite-phone and cell-phone coverage to Iraq to alert them to possible jamming and ask their assistance in turning off certain channels.

Time's running out for Obama in Iran

The threat of punitive sanctions, with or perhaps without UN security council blessing, is designed to concentrate minds in Tehran distracted by the divisive aftermath of June's presidential election. But it also serves to discourage the Israelis – at least for now – from taking matters into their own hands by launching a unilateral military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Israel's leaders do not believe dialogue or sanctions will work. But they calculate cynically that they must give Obama's diplomacy a chance to fail.

Webmaster's Commentary:

The reason we are looking at a 60 day time cap on potential US engagement though dialogue is that Tel Aviv has given Washington its marching orders as to precisely when an attack against Iran will begin.

Sanctions are not going to work, as certain countries, such as Russia, will ignore them with impunity. There is no chance in hell that the UN will approve of more severe sanctions, as Russia and China will veto them.

We may we well be looking at some kind kind of "October Surprise", involving some kind of military campaign that would be a joint US/Israeli strike. The US and Israeli military are profoundly integrated at every level, as current joint exercises recently in Nevada have demonstrated.

Russian diplomats have warned both the US and Russia that such an attack against Iran will be the trigger for WW3.

Unfortunately, the collective hubris in Tel Aviv and Washington may just make that so.

Clinton slams Israeli evictions of Palestinian families

Clinton, speaking during a press conference alongside her Jordanian counterpart Nasser Judeh, said such actions breached Israel’s duties under the 2003 internationally-endorsed roadmap for Palestinian-Israeli peace.

“These actions are deeply regrettable. I have said before that the eviction of families and demolition of homes in east Jerusalem is not in keeping with Israeli obligations,” Clinton told reporters.

Most liberal bloggers are also calling it bogus. Even worse for the birther movement, the founder of Free Republic doesn't think it passes the smell test either.

MSNBC Screaming Interview With Birther Orly Taitz Over Fake Kenyan Birth Certificate

Webmaster's Commentary:

So, allegations of "white supremacists" aside, looks like the real push for this birth certificate lunacy is coming from Israel. Is this an attempted payback for Obama's stance on the settlements? If so, they cratered this one!

Notable is how this Orly Taitz responds to the question about the birth announcement by talking about a totally different subject, then screams "Nazi" when David Shuster calls her on it.

10 indicted in $35 million tax fraud scheme

A federal tax fraud ring stretching from Chicago to Israel sought to bring in more than $35 million in tax refunds using the identities of thousands of federal prisoners, authorities here announced today.

A total of 10 people were named in indictments unsealed Monday, the U.S. attorney's office in Chicago announced, including the alleged leader of the ring, Marvin Berkowitz. One of his sons and a son-in-law were expected to appear in court in Chicago this afternoon.

Authorities said the ring submitted fraudulent claims using the stolen identities, causing $4 million in refunds to be issued. Berkowitz, who was arrested in Jerusalem, allegedly directed $800,000 to be paid to family members.

Leading Journalists Expose Major Cover-ups in Media

Pierre Salinger announced to the world on Nov. 8, 1996, that he’d received documents proving that a US Navy missile had accidentally downed [TWA flight 800]. That same day, FBI’s Jim Kallstrom called a press conference. A man raised his hand and asked why the Navy was involved in the recovery and investigation while a possible suspect. “Remove him!” [Kallstrom] yelled. Two men leapt over to the questioner and grabbed him by the arms. There was a momentary chill in the air after the guy had been dragged out of the room. Kallstrom and entourage acted as if nothing had happened. [Kallstrom was later hired by CBS.]

Obama's Cash for Repos,Stickin' it to da Man

Cash for Repos
August 3, 2009 8:52 am MadBrad
I could say that the name of the customer is Barack Hussein Obama, a guy who did a song and dance to have the opportunity to drive a vehicle he isn’t qualified to drive right into the dirt and then walk away from it saying; “It ain’t nuttin’ but a thang, I really stuck it to da Man”.
What I am really going to enjoy laughing about is how many of the vehicles that have been purchased under the “Cash for Clunkers” program are going to be driven like they were stolen (because they were) and will then be reposessed after they have been mostly destroyed and are only worth a fraction of their original value.

King salmon vanishing in Alaska, smokehouses empty

Yukon River smokehouses should be filled this summer with oil-rich strips of king salmon — long used by Alaska Natives as a high-energy food to get through the long Alaska winters. But they're mostly empty.

The kings failed to show up, and not just in the Yukon.

One Alaska river after another has been closed to king fishing this summer because significant numbers of fish failed to return to spawn. The dismally weak return follows weak runs last summer and poor runs in 2007, which also resulted in emergency fishing closures.

Torturing Children: Bush's Legacy and Democracy's Failure

Nowhere is there a more disturbing, if not horrifying, example of the relationship between a culture of cruelty and the politics of irresponsibility than in the resounding silence that surrounds the torture of children under the presidency of George W. Bush - and the equal moral and political failure of the Obama administration to address and rectify the conditions that made it possible. But if we are to draw out the dark and hidden parameters of such crimes, they must be made visible so men and women can once again refuse to orphan the law, justice, and morality.

Hawaii's homeless, rousted from parks, now living in remote areas

These areas are increasingly favored by homeless who want no part of the shelter system. That's because of an incorrect perception that these locations are outside the jurisdiction of Honolulu police enforcing the effort to keep reclaimed city beaches free of tent city populations.

While homeless-service workers say the number of tent dwellers has increased in these locations, precise figures have been elusive. A City & County of Honolulu Point-in-Time Count of Homeless conducted in May noted that volunteers along the Wai'anae Coast did not survey "homeless individuals residing in areas that they felt were unsafe to visit."
