Having been one of the few European countries in the world not to impose a coronavirus lockdown, Sweden is now starting to abandon its liberal approach after a surge in deaths.
Up until now, Sweden had kept schools, bars, restaurants and cinemas open while only restricting gatherings that were over 50 people.
People were encouraged to observe social distancing measures, but there were no quarantine protocols enforced by force of law and unlike its Scandinavian neighbors, Sweden’s borders remained open.
Commentators warned that this was “like watching a horror movie” and that it would inevitably backfire.
Now that Sweden has recorded 239 COVID-19 deaths, more than Norway, Finland and Denmark combined, the country’s left-wing government is finally imposing a stronger form of lockdown.
I find this article very interesting, in both its characterisation of China, and of Israel.
Warfare, in this part of the 21st century, can be very much achieved without a single bomb being dropped, and that has to do with hitting an economy hard, with sanctions, and pressure on other countries to avoid buying anything from the targeted country; we are seeing that now from the standpoint of the US governmental pressure on China to admit, whether or not it truly happened, that it was the origin of Covid 19, and it was not forthcoming with enough information to "save" Americans who have either been sickened by, or died from, this virus.
For the authors of this article not to understand that such a Chinese "surveillance/social credit" system is being actively pursued by the US government and beyond, and will be employed just as quickly as the US Deep State believes it can "softly" install it, is amazingly naive.
And as to Israel being "the only democracy in the Middle East"?!?
Please, folks, give me a break here!!!
How can one talk of a democracy, when one group of people consistently has its civil rights violated 24/7, gets shot at, has the limbs blown off their kids and generally assassinated for no bloody reason whatsoever, other than this group being "the other"?!?
How can you talk of a "democracy" with a government enmeshed in such a depth and history of corruption and paranoia which, if reasonably documented, would fill computer disks from here to eternity, for a country which is only 72 years old?!?
Because unless and until Palestinians have full voting rights in the "Eretz Israel" which is being created, through this brisk annexation coming about in the West Bank in July of this year, there is no justice, and no democracy in the State of Israel, period, end of discussion.
And Palestinian "leadership" (or what passes for it) needs to get its collective act together, to advocate, immediately, for this to become the case, when this annexation becomes a fait accompli.
